Fish Learning Fridays | Planted Tank Set Up

Just in time for back to school, we’re bringing you another lesson all about aquarium plants and a guide to setting up your very own planted tank! This lesson plan provides details on how to easily setup and maintain a planted aquarium ecosystem. A properly planted aquarium is one-step closer to a simulated natural ecosystem balancing fish and plants providing better water quality.

The lesson plan will provide parents/teachers/instructors with detailed instructions along with printable documents for the students/children.

The lesson consists of:

  • Learning Objectives
  • Materials Needed
  • Key Terms
  • Warm Up & Before you Get Started Readings
  • Instructional Set-Up Plan
  • Questions
  • Discussion
  • Final Quiz
  • Printable Resources

We encourage instructors to read through the entire lesson plan before beginning this with students/family members as materials may need to be purchased and information prep will need to be done. Suggested age range for this lesson is 10 years or older.

We’d love to see your planted aquarium once it’s complete…please share your pictures with us on our social media pages using the hashtag, #FishLearningFridays, or on “Our Community” page on our website and check back for more lessons to come! Do not hesitate to reach out with any questions too!
